Dublin Fire Brigade
On the 26th of April I spent a week working witn Dublin Fire Brigade. I awoke Monday morning eagerly awaiting the week ahead. I took the 7.30 train from Wicklow each morning into Tara Street and then walked the five minutes towards the station. I was met by Fire Safety Engineer Noal Cronin who I would be working with for the week. On the first day I was shown around the building which was quite impressive and was shown how the 999 call system worked. The second day was my favourite as I was shown around the fire engines and about its equipment. I had the thrilling opportunity of being in a fire cage that went 6 stories high which was amazing yet still quite nerve racking. On Wednesday and Thursday I traveled with Noal and his colleague Joe to do security inspections on Hotels and assorted buildings. I found this very interesting and learnt a lot about building safety and why it's so important. On my final day I was met by John who I would be with for the day. We were assigned the task of ensuring all the ambulances were stocked up with the correct medicine. We traveled to Crumlin and Tallaght Hospitals and also to Donneybrook Fire Station. Overall I found this week to be very interesting and am delighted to have had the opportunity to partake in this week.
A&L Goodbody Law Firm
On the 27th of October I started my first work experience week of the year in A&L Goodbody Law firm. Paddy Burke and Pierce Nestor also took part in this programme with me. At the beginning of the week we were put into four groups of about eleven people and we did a couple of different bonding exercises to get to know each other.
Over the first couple of days we were given talks from solicitors from each of the different departments in A&L such as property, corporate, finance and HR. I found all of them extremely interesting and very insightful but what stood out for me was probably the Market competition law section. I also was delighted to be assigned to Market Competition law section of the firm when we underwent our work shadowing.
As we progressed through out the week we began to do more activities and on Wednesday morning we went on a field trip to trinity collage and got a tour of the grounds and got a bit of history on the campus. On Thursday we went on a field trip down to the four courts and the criminal courts where I got to sit in on IRA and Murder cases which I found extremely interesting. Friday was our last day of work experience and we had our closing ceremony. Overall I really enjoyed my week at A&L Goodbody and would consider a profession in law in the future.

Simon Harrises Constituency Offices
On the 8th of December I began my week of community service of the year. I had managed to get in contact through email with Minister for Health Simon Harris and organised a week of work in his Constituency Offices in Bray. At 9am Monday morning I met with a woman named Eileen she explained to me the work I would be doing for the day such as writing and filing letters and printing documents. I found my first day to be quite interesting and busy as I learnt all the behind the scenes work that is done for Minister Harris. I found my second day at the offices to be quite moving as a weather warning was placed in Wicklow and temperatures began to drop. Due to these circumstances there were many calls into the office regarding homeless situations across Wicklow that needed to be dealt with and so it was a hectic day in the office.
On the Thursday I had the opportunity to visit Leinster House and see how busy Simon Harris’ schedule is, it shocked me to see how many meetings he attends in a single day. I was delighted to receive a tour of Leinster House from Minister Harris’ personal assistant Laura and even got to sit in on Dáil questions which was quite interesting. I then finished the day by helping lead a school tour around the grounds of Leinster House. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot about politics in today's society. From this week I would definitely consider a possible role in politics in the future.

CrossFit Wicklow
On March the 15th I began a week of Work Experience in Crossfit Wicklow. This was a very interesting week for me as I have a great interest in sport and physical development. Throughout this week I learned about the maintenance and running of a gym while also having to do a bit of cleaning here and there. I had the great opportunity to participate in some of the Crossfit classes and was not only able to better my own technique and knowledge but also learned how to teach and be of assistance to others around me. I really enjoyed my week at Crossfit Wicklow as it is a really nice and close family community. Not only are the gym facilities brilliant the coaches are very helpful. I would recommend CrossFit Wicklow to everyone.
